Alltribes Inlaid Belt Buckles, handmade with genuine Gemstones by Native American artists.
Inlay is a jewelry technique in which pieces of stone are crushed or cut perfectly and precisely to fit into overlay or channel work. The basic rough shapes of stones are cut or crushed and shaped to fit. Inlay work can be divided into three different categories, flat inlay, raised inlay and etched inlay.
Flat inlay is when after the stones are place in the silver channels or openings it is then ground flat on top until its surface is even with the silver. Usually, the tighter the fit, the better the work.
Raised inlay, is stone shaped and set in the same manner as in plat except instead of the top being level with the silver it is rounded or carved and takes much more work.
Etched inlay is done primarily the same but a picture is designed and etched into the surface of the stone. Etched inlay is considered the most difficult.
