Handcuffs are a restraint device used to secure a prisoner’s wrists together. The handcuffs are made up of two parts, linked together by a chain, with sturdy hinged cuffs with a lock. The cuff portion has an arm that rotates and inserts into a ratchet. This prevents the handcuffs from opening and closing. A key is needed to remove the handcuffs, so without one, a person is limited in their range of motion. This fetter device is used to stop criminals from escaping.
The Yuma Territorial Prison in Yuma, Arizona is considered to be haunted. On the first day of July, in the year 1876, seven inmates walked into the prison and were locked in cells they had been forced to construct themselves. Because the prisoners were present during the prison’s construction, they knew it was secure, and they could not escape. Today, there are those who believe the spirits of prisoners haunt the prison. There were approximately 119 prisoners that died at the Yuma Arizona Prison. The paranormal haunting occurs in the corridors and is most prevalent in the “dark cell”, which was used for isolation. Although there were not any confirmed deaths in this room, the emotional energy attracts the spirits.
