Frederic Remington (1861-1909) was a renowned artist known for his depictions of the American Old West, using backdrops, images and references from the US Calvary, Native Americans, and cowboys. He at one point was close with Theodore Roosevelt prior to his presidency, when he was the New York City Police Commissioner, and continued to do various tasks with motivation and assignment from Roosevelt, such as being a war correspondent and illustrator for William Randolph Hearst's New York Journal.
