Don Polland Cowboy Saddling Horse Statue

This Don Polland Cowboy Saddling Horse Statue depicts "Cold Saddles Mean Horses" in a 1974 issue from Chilmark Foundry numbered 2403/2800. It displays exceptional detail while the determined would-be rider tries to wrangle his steed under control. The smallest details are captured by the artist. It's about 5" tall by 5-3/8" wide and 5-5/8" deep. The wood base is signed and dated 10/24/86 by the artist and the metal is signed in-plate. In very good condition, there's light wear on the wood. This Don Polland Cowboy Saddling Horse Statue will bring a smile to any horse lovers' day and it's one of a kind!

Don (1932-2003) was born in Los Angeles and became interested in horses when he was 15. He worked at a few different jobs before becoming a commercial artist. In 1966, he became a sculptor of miniature cowboys and horses, at a time when large size, western works were much more popular. He loved the ability to hold his work, in one hand.
