Hopi Tewa Pottery Polychrome Olla by Alta Yesslith

This Hopi Pottery by Alta Yesslith is the creation of a real pro. Smooth lines and a free flowing patterns make a delightful homage to life in the southwest. Traditionally hand coiled and pinched smooth, it was free-hand painted with traditional Hopi geometric designs that represent rain, sky, feathers and the geologic formations that epitomize the southwest landscape known as Mesas. This wide lip olla is 5-1/4" tall and about 5-1/4" wide. Signed by the Hopi artist Alta Yesslith. This Hopi Pottery is an awesome work of cultural art that will bring the energy of the southwest to any space!

Alta Yesslith, originally from Keams Canyon, Arizona, is the daughter in law of famed Frog Woman potter, Joy Navasie. She started making pottery years ago and is still active today. Her husband, Dan Tsinnijinnie Yesslith, often works with Alta on the pottery.

While most of our silversmiths are Navajo, we employ artists from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some work from home, on the reservation, and some work here in our shop. Alltribes Native American Art and Jewelry blends ancient history, natural beauty, and unparalleled expertise flawlessly. We are conveniently located near Scottsdale, Mesa and Phoenix, AZ in the historic town of Gilbert. Unfortunately, due to Covid and other factors, we are unable to take walk in customers at this time. Our dazzling, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise comes from a nearby mine in Globe, AZ. This unique and exceedingly rare turquoise is renowned for its hardness, durability, and gorgeous color. Our artisans preserve the natural beauty of this precious stone, so you can admire its elegance for years to come. A hand buffed polish protects the stones and heightens its natural beauty.
