Large Vintage Badger Kachina Doll

This Large Vintage Badger Kachina Doll was handmade by Paul Yestewa. He depicts Honan, who is revered for his ability to heal through prayers and medicinal plants. The cottonwood is beautifully carved and painted in traditional detail. His case mask is accented with paw-prints on his cheeks, eagle feathers on top and he wears a decorated apron. He holds a dance rattle and eagle feather and is trimmed with yarn and fur. About 22" tall, including the base, and 9" wide, it's named and hallmarked under the base. This Large Vintage Badger Kachina Doll is one of a kind, and would make a wonderful addition to your collection!

This came to us from a personal collection of katsina, and all were well-cared for and protected in a glass case. Although there is no additional info on Paul, he is referenced in Schaaf's "Hopi Katsina 1600 Artist Biographies".
