Scorpion Fetish Zuni Hand Carved Dalmatian Jasper Turquoise Accents

The color of this Zuni Scorpion Fetish is slightly reminiscent of the color bark scorpions glow when under a black light. This is how we hunt them out at night to cull their numbers. This scorpion is hand carved from Dalmatian Jasper and inlaid with Turquoise accents. This is a rare opportunity for fetish collectors, an interesting and unique stylized depiction of this ground dwelling denizen of the desert. Scorpions are hunters and can defend themselves from animals 1000x their size so their totem is quite a powerful symbol. This Zuni Scorpion carving is about 2-3/4" long by about 7/8" wide. It is signed on the bottom but the Zuni artist could not be identified. This Zuni Scorpion Fetish is a cool piece honoring the desert and the creatures that survive within its harsh conditions.

This and other carvings were part of a private collection and were extremely well cared for. The previous owner collected these in the last quarter of the 20th century.
