This is an Authentic Acoma Native American Traditional Horsehair Pottery Vase handcrafted by Pueblo Acoma Artist, Eric Louis. Eric Louis uses traditional methods mixed with modern methods when creating his pottery. Each pottery is truly a work of art that represents the Acoma Pueblo’s spirit. Each pottery carries a deep significance to the culture and history of the Acoma Nation. Eric sculpts each pottery using a slip casting mold method. Everything that is included in the process of making this pottery is crafted by hand. The geometric designs are hand etched onto the pottery, designs that are etched freehand completely by memory. Each design carries an important significance to the Acoma Pueblo Culture. This particular pottery has etchings of feathers cascading around the top of the pottery vase. Every design and shape carries history and honor with every line etched into the surface. What truly sets apart this style of pottery is the use of Horsehair. Pieces of horsehair are burned into the smooth surface of each pot. Horsehair is strategically placed to create a one-of-a-kind design that Eric envisions. This breathtaking pottery measures a height of 6 – ½” and 7-1/2” in width. The pottery is 6” in depth, vase opening 1- 1/8”, and weighs 1lb 6.8 oz.
