Zuni Mudhead Kachina Pendant Pin and Brooch

Depicting the dancer who sings Zuni songs at First Mesa, this Mudhead Kachina Pendant Pin is a gorgeous reflection of his spirit! The Mudhead Kachina is seen at Hopi ceremonies, and the term "Mudhead" comes from the clown masks having mud applied to them, and traditionally act as emcees of events. Crafted by Zuni artist Beverly Etsate, she crafted this pendant using Jet as the background, and laid down Turquoise, Coral, and Mother of Pearl, creating the titular character. She then sets the whole image in twist wire, with a beaded frame holding everything together. The pendant is 2-7/8" long by 1-9/16" wide, and is hand signed by the artist. It comes with a complimentary silver chain, that you can upgrade to Sterling for an additional fee. A true tribute, this Zuni Mudhead Kachina Pendant Pin and Brooch is gorgeous handiwork at it's finest!

While most of our silversmiths are Navajo, we employ artists from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some work from home, on the reservation, and some work here in our shop. Alltribes Native American Art and Jewelry blends ancient history, natural beauty, and unparalleled expertise flawlessly. We are conveniently located near Scottsdale, Mesa and Phoenix, AZ in the historic town of Gilbert. Unfortunately, due to Covid and other factors, we are unable to take walk in customers at this time. Our dazzling, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise comes from a nearby mine in Globe, AZ. This unique and exceedingly rare turquoise is renowned for its hardness, durability, and gorgeous color. Our artisans preserve the natural beauty of this precious stone, so you can admire its elegance for years to come. A hand buffed polish protects the stones and heightens its natural beauty.
