Vintage Authentic Traditional Hopi Dance Kilt

This Vintage Traditional Hopi Dance Kilt features beautiful and intricate Hopi weaving with fantastic embroidery. This handmade Hopi kilt is tightly woven, embroidered with black and green wool yarns, symbolizing clouds, the red symbolizes rain. It is traditional to the Hopi Nation that the kilt is embroidered by the men, who use traditional designs that are specific to their cultural beliefs. A thicker band of black about an inch wide is crocheted around the bottom of the kilt, with small black terraced shapes breaking into the white body at intervals above the lower border. This type of kilt would be wrapped around the waist and tied with a sash. Measures an average of 39" length x 25" width. This Hopi style kilt is in good used vintage condition. It is unknown who made this Hopi Kilt. There are obvious signs of wear, which add to the authenticity of this vintage traditional Hopi kilt (see pictures attached). This Vintage Traditional Hopi Dance Kilt is an authentic representation of the beautiful Hopi Nation.

While most of our silversmiths are Navajo, we employ artists from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some work from home, on the reservation, and some work here in our shop. Alltribes Native American Art and Jewelry blends ancient history, natural beauty, and unparalleled expertise flawlessly. We are conveniently located near Scottsdale, Mesa and Phoenix, AZ in the historic town of Gilbert. Unfortunately, due to Covid and other factors, we are unable to take walk in customers at this time.
