Vintage Hopi Pottery Jar
This Vintage Hopi Pottery Jar by Colleen Poleahla is delightful! Hand built and hand painted, it features two Sityatki butterflies with additional, pueblo graphics that depict rain and water symbolism. It's 3-3/4" tall and 4" wide. In very good, used condition, there is some minor paint loss, but there are no cracks or chips. It's artist signed and clan identified, ca 1980's to 1990's. This Vintage Hopi Pottery Jar is a wonderful mix of art and tradition, that comes together, in this one of a kind collectible!
Colleen (1961-) was born into the Fire/Coyote Clan and learned her craft from her mother, Freida Warze Poleahle. She started making pottery in 1977. She is referenced in Schaaf's, "Hopi-Tewa Pottery, 500 Artist Biographies".
