Vintage Hopi Silver Kachina Post Earrings

These Vintage Hopi Silver Kachina Post Earrings were handmade by Leonard Shupla Jr. Using two layers of Sterling, this Longhair spirit brings the precious gift of rain, and he's set in a prayer shrine pattern. The top layer was sawed out and soldered to an etched and oxidized base. They're 1-3/8" long and 3/4" at the widest. They're hallmarked with a picto Sun Forehead with corn plant and a Guild stamp. A really beautiful pair, these Vintage Hopi Silver Kachina Post Earrings are one of a kind!

Leonard (1957-1994) was a Second Mesa artist of the Sun Forehead Clan. He learned his craft at the Hopi Guild and became active in 1984, until his passing. He is referenced in Wright's "Hopi Silver", Schaaf's "American Indian Jewelry III" and Hougart's “Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks”.
