Vintage Kohia Kachina Bolo Tie

This Vintage Kohia Kachina Bolo Tie was handmade in Sterling by George Dyckman. This dimensional supernatural is shown in full regalia with block pieces of turquoise, jasper, shell and jet. The details include a case mask with tube mouth, hand cut and flower accented eagle feathers, a green neck ruff, and a Tewa style hairdo. He wears a white skirt with warrior marks, twisted knee wraps and carries a dance rattle and Douglas Fir branches. He's 5-1/8" tall and 2-1/8" at the widest and is threaded on a new braided, black leather cord. It's about 43" end to end. The complementing tips are wrapped in flattened Silver wire with a dance rattle and a Douglas fir dangle. It's hallmarked and stamped Sterling. This Vintage Kohia Kachina Bolo Tie is one of a kind!

George (1926-2009) was a true renaissance man and judging from the details of this collection, he was extraordinarily meticulous! After retiring as an engineer at Honeywell, he dabbled in real estate and created new and unique items for McDonnell Douglas. He lived in Prescott Valley, where it took about 20 years (starting in the 1970’s) to create this kachina gathering. He had no experience as a jeweler, but was fascinated by the mystical tales of the Hopi katsina. His grandson finally decided to part with his collection, so that others may own them and enjoy wearing them!
