Vintage Navajo Kachina Silver Bead Necklace

This Vintage Navajo Kachina Silver Bead Necklace was handmade by Robert Becenti Jr. It displays a huge, large, colossal size pendant (did we say humongous?) with a wonderful scene of ceremonial katsina spirits! The age-old story is set in Canyon de Chelly with a campfire and kiva. Using two layers of Sterling, the top was sawed out and soldered to the bottom layer. Set on a hand stippled background, it's 6" by 3-5/8". it comes on a graduated stamped bead necklace, that is 29-1/4" long (includes clasp). Stamped Sterling and hallmarked with BCT and a pipe. Robert (1949-2001) was born in Rehoboth, NM into the Zuni People Clan for the Towering House People Clan. He lived and worked in Gallup. He was an award winning silversmith, who started making jewelry in the late 1960's. He is referenced in Wright's "Hallmarks of the Southwest", Hougart's "Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks", Schaaf's "American Indian Jewelry I and II" and was featured in the 1990 December issue of Southwest Art magazine.
