Vintage Zia Polychrome Olla

This Vintage Zia Polychrome Olla by Elizabeth Toya Medina is distinguished by its perfect mix of beauty and balance. The use of the dark brown and orange paints on the white slip offers a visually pleasing contrast. The hand painted bird and graphics achieve a balance and elegance, that is very collectible. It's almost 6-1/2" tall and 6-3/4" wide. In good condition, there a few areas that are chipped, late 20th century and signed. This Vintage Zia Polychrome Olla is a lovely piece, waiting for its next caretaker!

Elizabeth (1956- ) is originally from Jemez, but has lived in Zia Pueblo since 1978. She learned from her mother-in-law, Sofia Medina. She is an award winning potter that includes: Santa Fe Indian Market, Eight Northern Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show, the New Mexico State Fair and the Colorado Indian Market. Her work is in numerous collections, galleries and publications. She is referenced in Schaaf's "Southern Pueblo Pottery", Hayes and Blom's "Southwestern Pottery", Schiffer's "Pueblo and Navajo Contemporary Pottery", Rick Dillingham's "Fourteen Families in Pueblo Pottery" and Peaster's "Pueblo Pottery Families" to name a few.
