Robert (1939-2016) was born in Oklahoma into the Kiowa Gourd Clan and learned how to paint from his grandfather, Monroe Tsatoke (1904–1937), also a well-known artist. Roberts' blanket-wrapped Southern Plains figures became part of his artistic identity and representative of modern Native American artwork. He has been featured in numerous articles and interviews and his work is collected worldwide!
