Vintage Hopi Kachin-mana Kachina Doll

This Vintage Hopi Kachin-mana Kachina Doll depicts the female Hemis in a traditional position with a wooden rasp in her right hand, ready to scrap the water gourd in her left. This will produce the recognizable sounds that accompany the dances on the plaza. From her decorated tunic to the shawl she wears, she's lovely. The hair is put up in Tewa-style knots (whorls) and she wears Turquoise and white seed bead earrings. It's 8-1/2" tall and 4-1/2” wide and the base is signed McCabe, along with an undecipherable signature. This Vintage Hopi Kachin-mana Kachina Doll may have been made as a gift but we're not sure.

While most of our silversmiths are Navajo, we employ artists from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some work from home, on the reservation, and some work here in our shop. Alltribes Native American Art and Jewelry blends ancient history, natural beauty, and unparalleled expertise flawlessly. We are conveniently located near Scottsdale, Mesa and Phoenix, AZ in the historic town of Gilbert. Unfortunately, due to Covid and other factors, we are unable to take walk in customers at this time. Our dazzling, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise comes from a nearby mine in Globe, AZ. This unique and exceedingly rare turquoise is renowned for its hardness, durability, and gorgeous color. Our artisans preserve the natural beauty of this precious stone, so you can admire its elegance for years to come. A hand buffed polish protects the stones and heightens its natural beauty.
