Vintage Hopi Silver Kachina Pendant

This Vintage Hopi Silver Kachina Pendant was handmade by James Selina. He depicts the Mudhead, a popular supernatural who appears in almost every dance. Crafted in two layers of Sterling, the overlaid metal was etched and oxidized for contrast. It's 2" long, including the 4mm, ribbed bail and 1-1/8" at the widest. It comes with a complimentary chain, that you can upgrade to Southwest Links for an additional fee. It's picto hallmarked with a flute rattle and stamped Sterling. Refurbished in our shop, a missing bail was added. This Vintage Hopi Silver Kachina Pendant is a perfect match up for to lively personality!

James (1960- ) is a Second Mesa artist of the Snow Clan. He learned at the Hopi Silvercraft Guild, and became active in 1983. His three brothers are also silversmiths. He is referenced in Wright's "Hopi Silver", Schaaf's "American Indian Jewelry I" and Hougart's “Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks”.
