Vintage Hummingbird Seed Pot Santa Clara Pottery Bowl by Emily Tafoya

This amazing Vintage Hummingbird Seed Pot Santa Clara Pottery Bowl displays perfection in every hand incised detail that is featured with every delicate incision that is completely done by hand by Emily Tafoya! Seed pots were often used to store planting seeds, keeping them safe and dry. This seed pot displays a mix of traditional high shine and matte finish that was perfected by stone polishing before the firing process. This was handmade in coils, pinched smooth, shaped and pit fired. Featuring very fine incised hummingbirds and floral patterns, this item measures 2-1/4" tall and 4-1/2" wide. This is in very good, used vintage condition. It's signed by artist on the decorated floral bottom with SCP and a pictorial mountain, this is made by Emily Tafoya (Santa Clara Pueblo, see photos). Authentic Native American art for your home or office, this Vintage Hummingbird Seed Pot Santa Clara Pottery Bowl is definitely one of a kind and would bring distinctive art to your collection!

Emily Tafoya was the wife of noted potter Ray Tafoya, also the mother of potter Jennifer Tafoya. Emily and her family is known for their miniature sgraffito pottery. Winning prestigious awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Market. Her beautiful, one of a kind work has been featured in books such as “Generations”.
