Antique Pima Basket Bowl
This Antique Pima Basket Bowl was handwoven in the early 1900's. The unknown, Southwest Indian weaver would have gathered the natural materials from the nearby desert, the same place the Papago found theirs. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the pattern, as the random placement of devils claw doesn't reveal a known design, so this would easily be described as utilitarian. It's finished with a close wrapped rim. In very good condition, there are several broken stitches but overall, this is nice. It's about 15-1/2" wide and about 4" to 4-1/2" deep. They just don't make them like this anymore, and this Antique Pima Basket Bowl is one of a kind!
