"End of the Trail" Large Bronze Sculpture by James Earle Fraser 

This "End of the Trail" Bronze Sculpture was created by James Earle Fraser, who was famous for being integral to the creation of many structures found in Washington, D.C.. He crafted an iconic image of a Native American man tired after a long period of riding, with his weary horse he rides comes to the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The statue is a commentary on the damage Euro-American settlement inflicted upon Native Americans, with the main figure embodying the suffering and exhaustion of people driven from their native lands. This sculpture is 33-1/2" by 29" by 8", and is in great condition. James Earle Fraser (1976-1953) was an American sculptor during the first half of the 20th Century, that rose to fame by designing the famous Buffalo Nickel and "End of the Trail" bringing him notoriety. His other works featured within the city of Washington D.C. include The Authority of Law and The Contemplation of Justice at the U.S. Supreme Court; the south pediment and statues at the National Archives; Alexander Hamilton and Albert Gallatin at the U.S. Treasury; and the Second Division Monument.
