Vintage Zuni Mudhead Silver Kachina Bolo Tie by Beverly Etsate

Depicting the dancer who sings Zuni songs at First Mesa, this Vintage Mudhead Kachina Sterling Bolo Tie  is a gorgeous reflection of his spirit! The Mudhead Kachina is seen at Hopi ceremonies, and the term "Mudhead" comes from the clown masks having mud applied to them, and traditionally act as emcees of events. Crafted by Zuni artist Beverly Etsate, she crafted this unique bolo tie using Jet as the background, and laid down Turquoise, Coral, and Mother of Pearl, creating the titular character. She then sets the whole image in twist wire, with a beaded frame holding everything together. The Zuni bolo tie is 3-7/8" long by 2" wide, and is hand signed by the artist. It comes with a leather flat back bolo cord (48" length) and custom Mudhead Sterling tips, displaying original patina. High shine option is available (non-returnable). Beverly Etsate (Zuni) is the daughter of Rosalie an Augustine Pinto, who were known for their intricate inlay work. She has been making jewelry for well over thirty years and one of her favorite subjects is the Kachinas which she is well known for.
