Escape From The Big Hole Signed Print

This Escape From The Big Hole Signed Print is a limited edition lithograph of 450 of exceptional quality and content! Reproduced from the original painting by John Clymer, it was inspired by a real life event that took place in 1877. After the Indians moved over into Montana Territory, they were overtaken in a surprise attack by US soldiers at the Big Hole Prairie on August 7.  Although the Indians suffered severe losses, they forced the soldiers to retreat across the river while the rest of the tribe quickly broke camp and escaped. The outside dimensions are 22" by 34". Printed on a quality white paper, it's in very nice condition, and we have two and these were never displayed. In-plate signature and pencil signed by the artist lower right; these are numbered 447 and 448. John (1907-1989) was born in Washington state and eventually settled in Wyoming. He created art for the pulp fiction magazines, as well as, The Saturday Evening Post. In 1964, he pursued a fine art career, specializing in western and Native American genre art, and his work is highly collectible. He was a member of the Cowboys Artists of America.
